DESCRIPTION

A Lapith warrior falls to a Centaur in the Centauromachy (War of the Centaurs. The warrior is armoured with helm, cuirass, shield and greaves, and holds a stone in his outstretched hand. The half-man, half-horse Centaur brandishes a large boulder, preparing to crush the fallen hero. He has the pug nose and bestial ears of a Satyr. The relative size of the rocks wielded by man and beast serves to emphasize the supernatural strength of the Centaur race.
