DESCRIPTION

The sea-monster Scylla is depicted with the upper body of giantess, the tail of a serpentine fish in place of a legs, and a ring of dog foreparts circling her waist. She brandishes an oar in one hand and grasps the prow of Odysseus' ship in the other. Her hound-heads ravage men seized from the vessel.
