DESCRIPTION
The gods bestow their gifts upon the first woman Pandora. She is depicted as a forward-facing, statuesque figure. The goddess Aphrodite steps forward to crown her with a wreath of myrtle. Ares, armed with a shield and spear, and Poseidon, holding a trident, stand on either side. Several other figures (not shown) complete the scene--Hephaestus, Athena, Zeus and Hermes.
