ASTEROPE was the Okeanid-nymph of the town of Akragas (Acragas) in Sikelia (Sicily). She was the mother by Zeus of Akragas, the eponymous founding-king of the town. Asterope was probably the Naiad-nymph of the town's well, spring or fountain.
