THE "NYMPHE KHIAS" was an unnamed Naiad-nymph of the spring, well or fountain of the towns of Agelos (Agelus) and Melas on the Aegean island of Khios (Chios). She was loved by the god Poseidon and bore him the eponymous founding-princes of the twin towns.
Another Khian nymph named Khione presided over the fountain of the island's main town.
