Pausanias, Description of Greece 6. 6. 4 (trans. Jones) (Greek travelogue C2nd A.D.) :
"Euthymos [who won a boxing contest at the Olympics] was by birth one of the Italian Lokrians (Locri) . . . Local legend, however, makes him the son . . . of the river Kaikinos (Caicinus) which divides Lokris (Locri) from the land of Rhegion (Rhegium) and produces the marvel of the grasshoppers. For the grasshoppers within Lokris as far as the Kaikinos sing just like others, but across the Kaikinos in the territory of Rhegion they do not utter a sound."
